A remarkable report from the Spanish medium MARCA suggested that Sergio Perez was in advanced negotiations with Ferrari for a 2025 contract. Not with the F1 team, but the World Endurance Championship team, which has won the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans two years in a row. Is Perez's move to Ferrari realistic, or is it all just fiction?

The news is most likely inaccurate. It would be remarkable for Perez to have already found a new job after leaving Formula 1 so recently. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner revealed that Perez would be taking "a sabbatical", so would Perez throw himself into another class?

Antonio Perez Garibay, Sergio Perez's father, has said that his son is not going to enter a class other than Formula 1. Anything but a top team in Formula 1 would not be an option for Checo. Perez Garibay, however, has a history of statements that turned out to be incorrect.

There's no place for Perez at Ferrari:

The main argument for believing that nothing is true about the rumours is the simple fact that Ferrari has announced the full line-ups for its hypercar team for 2025. This has been confirmed to GPBlog. The successful combination of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen will remain in car #50, while the equally successful trio of James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi will once again pilot #51. There is no reason for Ferrari to shift drivers, as all six have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

There is no place for Sergio Perez at customer team AF Corse either. The Italian team has already confirmed Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and newcomer Phil Hanson for 2025.
