Alpine in partnership with Rwanda: 60 million euros involved in deal
According to the French newspaper, 20 Minutes, Alpine is set to partner with the African country of Rwanda from 2025 onward. If the rumours are true, they will enter a partnership to promote the country. The journal claims that around 60 million euros are involved and that the partnership is set to last for the next three years.
The African country has other sponsorship ventures such as football; however, Rwanda now wants to be in the Formula 1 grid. The deal comes down to about to 20 million euros per season, which if it is indeed for three years, then it rounds off the value of the partnership at 60 million euros.
Rwanda and Alpine collaboration
The South African Grand Prix in Kyalami was the last F1 race to be held in the continent; if Rwanda is successful in their attempt to attract tourists and does indeed manage to set a foot in the Formula One door, they could very well be the next African country to host a Grand Prix. In a bid to welcome more tourists, Rwanda would be in talks with other F1 teams as well, not just Alpine, at least according to the same source.
The president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, is very interested in bringing a race into Rwanda and has stated as such recently, even mentioning that the African nation was preparing a proposal to put forward to F1 to have a place in the calendar. Kagame has also responded positively to Formula One Media's CEO Stefano Domenicali's comments where he stated that there is a great need for a race in Africa.
