Verstappen on driving outside of F1: 'It feels natural'
- Savannah Lenz
Max Verstappen is a four-time F1 world champion, but is also known for taking anything with four tyres and a steering wheel and making it go fast, like the sports cars he's tested in the past. One of those cars was a Grand Touring prototype.
Before the season ended, Verstappen was able to test-drive an Acura ARX-06 by the Honda Racing Corporation, providing one more piece of evidence that the Dutchman can hold his own in the cockpit of a very different machine to the ones he is accustomed to race in F1. The four time world champion has also expressed in the past his desire to try out different racing series and his dream of creating a team to compete with as well.

After getting in the car Verstappen said, "It is very nice. I enjoyed it a lot. It’s different to Formula 1. I jumped in; it felt quite natural. I've driven these cars on the simulator, but then to get the real thing and see how close it is to what you do on the sim… I was happy with what I was doing and I had fun out there. It's nothing serious, but at least Honda gave me the opportunity to get a feel for the car, and I definitely enjoyed it".
Yuki Tsunoda was also there with Verstappen, but the Japanese driver had the chance to get a taste for an IndyCar. Although the Dutchman couldn't drive the American series open wheel drive, he insisted that he'd got what he'd wanted. "I like to drive a lot of cars, but it also depends on the timing. I mean, it's all so critical timings that for me it was only possible to drive with the GTP, but anyway, that was also what I wanted".
Verstappen's Future Racing team
Verstappen has been very vocal regarding his dreams of creating his own racing team. Through Verstappen.com racing, he currently supports Thierry Vermeulen and Jos Verstappen. Vermeulen races in the DTM and GT series, while Jos Verstappen raced Rally cars in 2023. Max Verstappen is also a part of and supports Team Redline.
