Helmut Marko reveals direction for Red Bull's RB21
29 December 2024 at 20:00

Red Bull Racing's car for 2024 had a lot of pure speed, but it did come without its difficulties. During the winter break, the Austrian team are working to optimise the concept for next season, with advisor Helmut Marko sharing small details about what the RB21 will look like.

Ahead of a new Formula 1 season, it is always a matter of waiting to see how the teams will come out of the winter. Will they largely stick to last year's concept or will they take a completely different tack? In any case, the regulations in 2025 will remain the same as in 2024.

The RB20 in 2024 for Red Bull was expected to be similar to the record-breaking RB19 from 2023, and as the season got underway, it looked like it would be another dominant car on the grid. However, huge inconsistency meant Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez could not fight at the front of the grid at many Grands Prix.

Marko reveals details about the RB21

F1 teams do not necessarily have to introduce a completely new concept, although several race teams have already revealed that they will take a pretty innovative direction. What Red Bull Racing will do is not much known yet, but Helmut Marko did release some small details at Sport.de, hoping to move away from the RB20 issues.

"The concept is done, the car is done," Marko said. "We're now going into the final steps. We're seeing where we can loose some weight. The assignment for the engineers was to create a car that has a more wide working window and that is not so critical in the limiting areas so that it isn't hard for a driver to control."
