Fine words from Sainz at his farewell to Ferrari
Carlos Sainz will race for Williams as of next season. Ferrari has decided to part ways with the Spaniard in order to make room for seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Sainz, now says that he will better appreciate his time spent in Ferrari's scarlett red after he retires from F1.
4 wins, 6 poles and 27 podiums are some of the achivements Sainz has to his name during his time spent racing for Ferrari in the past four years. "I think the heritage of Ferrari, the history books and everything, I think this is something, I think I will look at it more when I retire," he says.
That the Spaniard holds the Italian brand in the highest regard and carries the time he was "part of it" in his heart is no secret. "When I'm in my sofa, being an older version of myself, thinking: 'Look, that was cool, I was one of those and I'm part of that'".
Next season Sainz will drive for Williams. Under the leadership of the Grove based team's ambitious team principal, James Vowles, the Spaniard will look to help the once championship fighting team make their way back to the top of the grid.
