Perez dismissed by analysts: 'It's a good thing he's gone!'

The decision that everyone was waiting for has finally been made with Liam Lawson replacing Sergio Perez. Lawson will take Perez's seat starting in 2025. According to Christijan Albers, Tom Coronel and Giedo van der Garde, the decision to let Perez go, should have been made earlier.
'Unbelievable that Perez was allowed to stay at Red Bull'
Despite poor results, Perez had already recieved a contract extension during the 2024 season. However, after scoring only a single point in the last five races of the season, Red Bull Racing and Perez agreed on his future and that he would not be racing with them next season.
During their annual F1 review on Viaplay, the analysts reviewed Perez. Albers opened the conversation with, "At first, I still thought Perez started okay with P2 in Bahrain. Oh no, wait, the gap with Max was 22 seconds,". Coronel continued it by saying, "He did so much damage and to no avail. He almost drove Max off in Miami, and he spun in Silverstone. How many times did he crash out of Q1? And that he stopped at the traffic lights and some c*** excuse afterwards."
Van der Garde, who used to race with Perez, said, "Also, out of qualifying early in the race, he drove at the back. It was so incredibly bad!". Adding the final nail in the coffin, Coronel said, "We have run out of excuses. It's a good thing Perez is gone."
