As the last day of 2024, today is the final end of Lewis Hamilton's journey with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. After 11 years, Hamilton's time with the team and principal Toto Wolff comes to an end. Wolff had a few final words that he wanted to share regarding Hamilton and his time at Mercedes.

Wolff's final heartfelt words

In a video shared to their social media platforms, Mercedes posted 'Heartfelt final words from Toto to Lewis'. In the video, Wolff addresses Hamilton and talks about how it was to be there with him during his time with the team. Wolff said, "The name Lewis Hamilton will stand for a long time as the greatest, and I will be telling my grandchildren to be proud because I was part of Lewis Hamilton's journey."

The team principal & CEO of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team also then addressed the rest of the room. "That's something we can all be very proud of. For however many years you've been here, whether it was a month or 12 years like I have been." Wolff, like Hamilton, has been with the team for a long time, and together, they have won 8 constructors championships and 7 drivers' championships.

Wolff concluded his speech by saying, "I think Niki [Lauda] would have taken his cap up because of this journey with you. We need to all pinch ourselves that we were part of your journey with Mercedes." Lauda was a co-shareholder within the Mercedes team after joining as a non-executive chairman.
