Tributes pour in for Peter van Egmond

Over the past few decades, Peter van Egmond became an indispensable figure in the world of Formula 1. As a photographer, he attended more than 550 races, capturing countless iconic moments. Sadly, during the last season, he was unable to work due to being terminally ill. Max Verstappen knew Van Egmond well, having worked alongside him for many years. As the four-time world champion continued his career with Red Bull Racing, Van Egmond was the team’s photographer.

After it was announced that Van Egmond passed away on Thursday at the age of 68, Verstappen left a message for the beloved photographer on Instagram. The Dutchman said, "R.I.P. Peter. A true legend of our sport and, above all, a great person." Read more about the legendary photographer by clicking here.

Michael Schumacher celebrates 56th birthday

Former Formula One World Champion and racing legend Michael Schumacher celebrates his birthday today. The legendary German driver, who raced in 308 Grands Prix from 1991 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2012, turned 56 today.

Schumacher is recognised worldwide as one of the best Formula 1 drivers of all time. The German driver made his debut for Jordan's team in 1991 and soon after left for Benetton, where he celebrated his first successes. In 1994 and 1995, he captured his first two world titles and soon left for Ferrari, where he grew into a legend after a few difficult years. From 2000 to 2004, Schumacher took five world titles there and still holds the record for most world titles together with Lewis Hamilton.

After the 2006 season, Schumacher retired from F1 but returned to Mercedes in 2010.  Schumacher did not manage to win a single Grand Prix with the team and bode farewell once again after 2012. See more on the German as we celebrate him today.

Wolff reflects on Abu Dhabi 2021

Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, recently joined Dax Shepard on his 'Armchair Expert' podcast. During the episode, they discussed Formula 1 and Wolff's involvement. One of the topics they touched on was the controversial actions of Abu Dhabi 2021.

Within the podcast, Abu Dhabi was described as one of the most controversial things to ever happen in F1. Wolff agreed. "Probably in most sports. It was so clear that the referee decided to do something that was not in the rulebook. It's not even a judgment call, but it's just not in the rulebook. But having said that, it was more the madness of it". Despite the result, Wolff gave Max Verstappen his flowers for a great season.
