'This will be Hamilton's new race engineer at Ferrari'
Lewis Hamilton already knows who his new race engineer will be at Ferrari, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. After years of working with Peter Bonnington, Hamilton will have a new voice over his radio in 2025.
For Hamilton, the move to Ferrari also involves things other than a change of outfit and car. For example, Hamilton worked with Peter Bonnington, his race engineer, for 12 years. However, the latter decided to stay at Mercedes and support Andrea Kimi Antonelli there.
So at Ferrari, Hamilton would have to deal with a new race engineer and, according to Gazzetta, it would be Riccardi Adami. This would not be a big surprise, as Adami was also already the race engineer of Carlos Sainz and, before that, Sebastian Vettel.
Familiar names for Hamilton at Ferrari
Adami has worked in Formula 1 since 2002, when he started at Minardi. Adami stayed with that team when it was bought out by Red Bull and renamed Toro Rosso, now Racing Bulls. Adami stayed there until 2015, when he made the move to Ferrari. There, as with Toro Rosso, he went to work as Sebastian Vettel's race engineer.
Despite the many changes, much also remains the same for Hamilton. For instance, according to the Italian sports newspaper, he is also taking his entourage with him, consisting of photographers, trainers, security and someone for communications. One of the names is former driver Marc Hynes, who plays an important role behind the scenes for Hamilton.
Inside Ferrari, there are already familiar names for Hamilton. For instance, Hamilton already worked successfully with team boss Frederic Vasseur when Hamilton became champion with his GP2 team ART. Hamilton also meets Loic Serra and Jerome D'Ambrosio at Ferrari, who recently switched from Mercedes to Ferrari. Serra as Head of Chassis Performance Engineer, D'Ambrosio as Deputy Team Principal.
