Courtesy of Briatore and Oakes: 'In terms of ambition, Alpine is doing well'

If there is one team that entered 2025 feeling good, it must be Alpine. After a dramatic start to last season, the French team cleverly managed to work its way up to the middle of the pack - even earning two podium finishes in Brazil. According to Pierre Gasly, this is partly due to the path set by team boss Oliver Oakes and adviser Flavio Briatore for the team.
GPblog Asked Gasly in Abu Dhabi about the impact the new team boss and Italian veteran have had on Alpine? Then the Frenchman praised both. "I think it's going very well in terms of ambition," was the first thing Gasly said.
"They have clear targets for the team. And so far it's a very honest and transparent relationship. They value my feedback, my input inside the team. I want a faster car, I want to fight at the front."
Gasly sees 'huge potential' at Alpine
Gasly has a firm belief that in time this can be done. "I do believe that there is huge potential in Enstone to get a very strong race car and didn't show it at the start of the year, but they've showed that there is clearly a lot of potential in the way they've developed."
Therefore, the one time GP winner is hopeful for 2025: "Just need to start with a stronger base and hopefully next year we can be, I told them it was nice running in P3 in Abu Dhabi, but next year I want more of that."
