Sergio Perez may no longer be active in Formula 1, but that by no means means means that his father, Antonio Perez Garibay, has vanished from the spotlight. The politician was a very much present guest in the Formula E paddock in Mexico this weekend, where he had his picture taken with everyone even. The Mexican also displayed remarkable Sergio Perez merchandise.

A hug here, a hand there; and, of course, always his famous wide and white grin. Antonio Perez Garibay's visit to the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City did not go unnoticed on Saturday. At the track where Oliver Rowland later scored a handsome victory by outsmarting the two Porsches in the closing stages, Perez Garibay was one of the prominent figures.

Perez Sr. shows love for his son

Son Sergio Perez, who to the dismay of all of Mexico, was sidelined by Red Bull Racing in late 2024, was not present at the track. But Perez Sr. hinted that Max Verstappen's former teammate was there anyway. At that, Perez Garibay showed his socks, on which Sergio's face could be seen all over. The politician was also wearing shoes of 'Scuderia Perez'.

Whether Perez Garibay also spoke to teams about his son's possible move to the electric class? It is not yet known, but no doubt it will have been asked here and there. As recently as last Friday, Sergio Perez announced that he will spend at least the next six months thinking about whether and where to continue his racing career.
