Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen are both Formula 1 World Champions. The two families were interweaved before Max joined Formula 1 as his father, Jos Verstappen, raced with Schumacher during their time together at Benetton. Former F1 driver and current steward, Johnny Herbert, spoke about some advice Max Verstappen night have received.

Herbert on advice given to Verstappen

In an interview with Casinoutanspelpaus.io, Herbert was asked about the topic of the younger Verstappen and Schumacher. Verstappen grew up around the Schumachers' thanks to his father's time as an F1 driver. Herbert said, “I think those types of comments that Michael Schumacher may have spoken to Max Verstappen about would stick with you." Verstappen has previously mentioned that Schumacher had given him advice but the exact advice was never specified.

However, Herbert went on to speak about the older Verstappen, Jos. "But I know Joss Verstappen would still be making sure that he doesn’t forget them at the same time. I think he’s used so much on how Michael worked within a team to make the maximum step in the group that we’ve got today, the strength that he’s got and has had since a very, very young age from when he first got into Formula One."

The current FIA steward continued. "I always remember when he did his first season in Formula One, he got this horrible reputation of driving people off the circuit, being a hard racer. " Herbert concluded, "And he was like, well, hard racing is what it’s all about. You don’t put people in the wall; you push them onto the grass.”
