For Ferrari fans, it was a minor disappointment. When toy manufacturer Mattel announced last week to launch an affordable F1 collection of cars, the Italian team was missing from the collection - as, incidentally, was Aston Martin. For those people, Mattel still has good news.

Mattel and Ferrari have agreed on a collaboration, allowing the toy car manufacturer to develop full range of Hot Wheels products. "The collection will offer a wide range of Ferrari classics and the latest and most technologically advanced models, including celebrated racing and road cars. The first product drop of the collaboration will take place this spring," it is reported.

Roberto Stanichi, executive vice president of Hot Wheels and head of Vehicles & Building Sets at Mattel is delighted that Ferrari will be part of the portfolio. "We look forward to the world's reaction to our vision for some of the finest rolling works of art in automotive history, created by our team of design experts who can do it better than anyone else."

Rush for F1 collection Hot Wheels

Last week, Mattel announced it had developed a Formula 1 Hot Wheels collection. Immediately afterwards, pre-sales of the cars started, leading to a rush. Mattel's website reports that the cars are all sold out for now.
