Ferrari on a Hamilton-Leclerc 'rivalry': 'I'm sure that will happen!'
Charles Leclerc is set to face off against his third teammate at Ferrari: After Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz, now Lewis Hamilton will drive alongside the Monegasque driver. Piero Ferrari, the son of Enzo, is not at all worried by the line-up the Scuderia have for the upcoming season.
Leclerc has been at Ferrari since the 2019 season, while the more experienced Hamilton has just now joined the Scuderia after spending more than a decade at Mercedes. The Briton's first days in Maranello already took the world of F1 by storm, as his first photo with the team became the most-liked F1-related social post on Instagram.
This season will be a new experience for both drivers, but Piero Ferrari looks forward to seeing the two together. "Oh, of course [is awaiting the challenge to defeat Hamilton]! It has always been like this between teammates, it's part of the game," he began to Autosprint.
According to the Vice Chairman of Ferrari, a great battle awaits, comparing the situation to another sport. "In Charles' case there is also the generational issue that we are witnessing in tennis with Sinner and other kids: the freshness of the youngsters against the experience and solidity of those who are many years older."
Still, Ferrari is confident both can reap the rewards at the end of the day. "I am sure that the rivalry between Hamilton and Leclerc will be able to bring advantages to both," he concluded.
