Arvid Lindblad has secured his seventh victory in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship. With one race weekend to go, he's got one hand on the title as well as his super licence, which - provided the FIA makes an exception - would allow him to drive in Formula 1 as early as 2025.

Lindblad one win away from F1 super licence

Lindblad won his seventh race (and his fourth main race in a row) in the New Zealand racing class. At Teretonga Park, Red Bull Racing's young talent was untouchable. With one more race weekend to go, in which the New Zealand Grand Prix will be held at Highlands Motorsport Park, the title is within reach for the 17-year-old Briton.

"I really wanted to win today," Lindblad declared on Sunday after the main race. It was his first win of the weekend, after finishing second in the first race and sixth in the second race - a reverse starting order. "The weekend was good, but not as good as previous weekends and I really wanted to win this race. The start is always crucial and I made a good start, but not a mega start. I knew I had to take the lead. A lot depended on Matias, but he gave me space."

Matias Zagazeta - his M2 Competition teammate who won the first race of the weekend - started on pole position, but was powerless against Lindblad in the first corner. Michael Shin eventually finished second behind Lindblad, with Zagazeta completing the podium.
