After officially making the move to Ferrari on the 1st of January, Lewis Hamilton has finally been able to get behind the wheel and complete a few drives in recent weeks. On the Formula for Success podcast, Eddie Jordan weighed in on the financial aspects of Hamilton's move to Ferrari. David Coulthard also spoke about the implications it could have on Max Verstappen.

Hamilton's move to Ferrari took the entire motorsport world by surprise. While at Ferrari, Hamilton will be working hard towards achieving his eighth championship. If he manages to pull it off he will surpass former Ferrari Driver Michael Schumacher and break the record for most Drivers' titles, which might have contributed to the great deal of attention Hamilton experienced in his initial weeks at the Scuderia.

During one of the tests, Hamilton had a minor collision. Jordan does not think the crash affected anything.  "He will be given enough time by Ferrari. Ferrari will make and build more road cars and will have a bigger profit centre because of Lewis. So they will be able to absolutely adequately offset any outside income or expenditure that they would have had with Lewis. It will be justified. I have no doubt that it was a calculated financial, commercial decision by Elkann and I think they will recoup that manyfold."

Coulthard thinks Hamilton's move to Ferrari will help everyone, not just the Scuderia. "The way I look at it is that wherever the high water mark is, it just helps everyone else within the sport. If Lewis is now the highest-paid driver in Formula 1, that gives Max a reference point in his management in the next negotiation. You use that with Andrian Newey, Aston Martin. It helps everyone within the industry in a time when Formula 1 is growing and continuing to see bigger and bigger returns."
