Another Magnussen in F1? Kevin's brother set to begin his journey!
Luca Magnussen, the 15-year-old brother of Kevin, is set for his single-seater debut. The young Dane will compete in the GB4 series. Could he be the third driver in his family to reach Formula One?
Will Luca follow the 'family tradition'?
After the 2024 season, Kevin Magnussen will be a reserve driver at Haas F1, as the American team will have Esteban Ocon and British youngster Oliver Bearman. Now, another Magnussen will begin his journey towards F1. Luca Magnussen is set to compete in the GB4 series. This series, which uses older Formula 4 chassis, offers an affordable alternative to the FIA-certified British Formula 4 and acts as a stepping stone to the GB3 championships. The competition's 2025 calendar includes events at iconic British circuits such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
So far, not only Jan and Kevin could compete in Formula 1, but the two also had a great track record in the junior series hosted in the UK. Kevin finished second in the 2011 British Formula 3 championship, while their father, Jan Magnussen, dominated the same competition back in 1994.
Kevin Magnussen's future
Luca's brother will remain at Haas F1 this upcoming year, where he will be a reserve driver, and will drive at TPC (testing of previous cars) events for the Americans. Moreover, from BMW, he will compete in in the IMSA SportsCar Championship and in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) as well.
