Arvid Lindblad, considered the biggest talent in the Red Bull Junior Team by Helmut Marko and others, speaks highly of Max Verstappen. The 17-year-old Briton, who won the Formula Regional Oceania championship title and thus accumulated enough points for his super licence, talks about why he is so impressed by the four-time world champion.
Lindblad impressed with Verstappen
Speaking on the Inside the Line F1 podcast, Lindblad said, "It seems like whatever he does, whatever he gets in, whatever opportunity, whatever situation he's put in, he's able to make the best of it and just be extremely fast. I think the best way to describe Max at the moment is that he seems to have no weaknesses, and he's just a bit better than everyone else.
The Red Bull Racing junior also talks about his relationship with Verstappen. "Max is a really great guy. He really is just like a normal person, and he doesn't let any of the fame or the noise go to his head, and he's really down to earth." He said, "He always has taken a lot of time to talk to me, he's been really helpful."
Lindblad continued, "He's been really great to talk to and a really amazing person to know because, like I said, he's been really down to earth and just been really open to help, and he's available because I'm sure he's very busy with his own commitments but he does take time to speak to you."
Lindblad has enough points for super licence
His Formula Regional Oceania Championship title earned him another 18 points, which granted him more than the required total to be eligible for a super licence necessary to race in F1. However, due to Lindblad still being under the age requirement (18), a dispensation would then be needed from the FIA to allow the British driver to make his first Grand Prix start. Either that or a rule change."
It is expected that Red Bull will want to take advantage of the said rule change to allow Lindblad to compete in Formula 1 before his 18th birthday in August. Once in possession of his super licence, Lindblad will not only be allowed to drive during free practice sessions but can also act as a test and reserve driver.
