Arvid Lindblad is the rising talent within Red Bull Racing. The 17-year-old Briton does not yet have a driving licence, but managed to get enough points for his Formula 1 super licence in New Zealand last weekend. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko even called him the biggest talent within the Austrian's junior team. Speaking to The Inside Line, Lindblad talked about his relationship with Marko and whether that brings extra pressure.
When Lindblad was asked about his bond with Marko and how he is off the track, he replied, "He's very transparent and honest, and it's kind of just. I don't know, I want to win, I want to perform well, so I don't really see it as pressure or anything negative. I sort of take on board what he says and listen to him and take his advice and then just go out and try and drive fast and make him happy."
Lindblad sees Marko's words as motivation
After winning the title in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship, Lindblad has accumulated enough points for his racing licence, which is required to drive in Formula One. In addition to his duties with Campos Racing in Formula 2. The young Briton then went on to discuss the high targets Marko always sets for his drivers. While that pressure can be tough, Lindblad actually sees it as a motivation.
"That's normally the response he gives you, and that's the goal he sets. It's to win. Which is normally easier said than done, but, no, in the end, if you want to be in Formula One, you have to perform, you have to win. That's the way the current F1 world is. And it's exciting, and I see it as great that I have this sort of support and opportunity to be able to do that. So it makes me excited," concluded Lindblad about Marko.
