Lewis Hamilton's debut with Ferrari is a little under a month's time away, and Fernando Alonso has weighed in on the Briton's adventure at the Italian marque, issuing a sound warning, whilst at the same time believing that Hamilton's talent, provided the Scuderia give him the car, is enough to make him a title contender in 2025.

Speaking to select media ahead of the F1 75 Live event, Alonso shared his thoughts on Hamilton's scarlet red spell with the Maranello-based outfit. "It's more about adapting to the car than anything else," said the Aston Martin driver.

Will Hamilton "suffer" Leclerc 'as he did with Russell last year'?

"Hamilton has to see how the car is driven, Leclerc has more experience," added Alonso, warning Hamilton of one of his teammate's advantages ahead of their internal duel at Ferrari in 2025, bringing to the fore a dangerous precedent from the 2024 season which saw the seven-time world champion be soundly beaten by former teammate at Mercedes, George Russell.

"Lewis also suffered a bit with Russell last year so he also has to gain confidence," added the Spaniard, remembering however, what his British colleague is capable of. "But we know the quality he has and if he has a good car he will be a sure candidate," concluded Alonso.
