Tsunoda strikes blow to FIA's swearing ban: 'You won't get a penalty'
Yuki Tsunoda is known to be one of the most endearing personalities in the paddock, however, on track the Japanese driver unleashes a ferocious side to him, that shows his rivals he will not yield a single centimeter. Sometimes this trait gets the better of him, though, resulting in the use of inappropriate language, which may get him in trouble as of the 2025 season, since the FIA will hand out hefty penalties should a driver breach its code of conduct during official media moments.
Many drivers have had their say on the FIA's decision to heavily sanction the use of inappropriate language. Tsunoda - regularly caught showing his fiery side on the onboard radio when faced with complicated situations during a Grand Prix weekend - is the next to give his opinion on the matter.
"As a personal opinion, I think for me it's the things that shows your personality. Obviously, it's a limit that you will reach that threshold, and it can be very toxic. It's not the word that you want to hear, but in general, [in] sports, it's not just us swearing," said the Japanese driver to GPblog and other media present.
Yuki finds loophole in FIA's conduct guidelines
Tsunoda then comes up with an alternative for drivers who wish to safely express themselves regardless of the environment: "I guess for us, we need proper training, I guess, to not swear much. Actually, I don't swear much recently. Maybe I [would] swear more before, because I couldn't swear now in racing. Try to not fudge up, and don't get fined," concluded the Racing Bulls driver.
