On Tuesday, Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson will take their first laps in Red Bull Racing's RB21 during a filming day at the Bahrain International Circuit, just one day before winter testing begins.
Verstappen and Lawson complete shakedown with Red Bull
During the filming day in Bahrain, the Red Bull drivers will get their first feel for the 2025 F1 car. They are allowed to cover a total of 200 kilometres—typically 100 kilometres each—using special demonstration tyres from Pirelli, rather than the standard compounds. As a result, the shakedown won't provide a true indication of performance. A clearer picture of the car’s competitiveness will emerge during the official test days from 26 to 28 February.
During the shakedown, all systems of the new car will be thoroughly tested, with a strong focus on reliability. Verstappen, Lawson, and the Red Bull team will be aiming for a trouble-free day, as any issues that arise can be addressed before winter testing begins the following day.
On Tuesday, it was also announced that Red Bull's test schedule has changed from previous reports. Lawson will now take charge of the Wednesday morning session on 26 February, with Verstappen driving in the afternoon. On Thursday, Lawson will handle the full day of testing, while Verstappen will take over for the entire Friday session.
