Christian Horner explains why the shakedown was important for Red Bull

Horner explains the 'most important part of the shakedown of the RB21'

While pre-season testing gets underway tomorrow, the RB21 already hit the track for the first time today. That is because the team completed their filming day shakedown in Bahrain. Team principal Christian Horner was positive after the day in Sakhir.

Over the course of the day, it was Max Verstappen who first sat in the car, and then it was his new teammate's, Liam Lawson's turn. At the moment, there is little to know about how the latest Red Bull car compares to the rest of the grid, and little did the drivers drove it at its full speed, but Horner was mostly happy with how the day turned out.

"It’s great to get back at it here in Bahrain for our Filming Day, although, given the weather you would be excused for thinking we were still in Silverstone," laughed the Briton.

System check for Red Bull Racing

"It’s always exciting seeing a new car out on track for the first time and it was a good systems check in preparation for tomorrow when the RB21 takes to the track with some of its competitors," he then explained about what did his team complete on Tuesday.

There is not much time for rest, as tomorrow, pre-season testing will begin in Bahrain. Lawson will begin with the first shift on Wednesday, then Verstappen will take over during the afternoon. The New Zealander will then drive on Thursday, and the defending champion will complete both sessions on Friday.
