Before the first Grand Prix of 2025, Jack Doohan could already be at risk of losing his seat. It has been rumoured for some time that the Australian will soon have to give up his spot at Alpine to Franco Colapinto after the French team bought in the Argentine as their reserve driver.

Colapinto came in as a mid-season replacement at Williams for Logan Sargeant, and he made a lot of heads turn with some of his drives in the pinnacle of motorsport. However, with the majority of the 2025 grid already set, there was no room for the Argentine on the grid. However, Alpine made room for him as their reserve driver fr the upcoming season, resulting in some questions being posed about his future at Alpine, and that of Doohan's too due to the signing of Colapinto.

A week ago, ahead of the F1 75 event in London, Doohan had many questions asked about his future, with the team's press officer was at a loss for words. Subsequent questions about Doohan's possible departure were cut off in advance.

Team boss Oakes praises Doohan's attitude

But in Bahrain, the questions were there again, this time to team boss Oliver Oakes. The Briton first looked back at last week, when Doohan was behind the microphone. "You've all quizzed Jack quite hard about that. Credit to him, he's kept his head down and got on with his winter and doing his job."

"This morning, he did a brilliant job for the team, and we're happy to have him. And all these stories about Franco and all that, Jack has his chance, and I'm looking forward to seeing him race this season," concluded Oakes, putting an end to the rumours - at least for now.
