Christian Horner on how Red Bull is getting back to the top
Today at 13:30

After another strong start to a season in 2024, Red Bull finished third in the constructors' standings the previous year. After the three-day pre-season test that was hosted in Bahrain, it is still hard to know where the Austrian team rank this year, and Christian Horner explained that it is hard to become the leaders once again on such converged grid.

Horner expects close field

"I think we've just got to improve across some of the characteristics of last year's car. I think the team will work very hard on that over the off-season" the Red Bull Racing team principal began in Bahrain.

While the RB20 was often criticised towards the end of the season, Horner also underlined that their previous car was not as bad as people sometimes made it seem. That was also largely down to Max Verstappen, who could secure his drivers' title at the Las Vegas GP. "Let's not forget we still won nine races and four sprint races with that car last year. So we had a reasonable basis from which to develop."

The Briton expects a great battle this season as well, therefore, does not imagine that a single team can dominate like they did in 2023. "The competition is very tight and, of course, in the last year, this set of regulations you can see the convergence. I mean, the cars all look incredibly similar today. I think it's going to be very competitive throughout the season from the first race all the way through the season."
