It is now official: Cadillac has joined Formula 1 as the 11th team. It had been in the air for a while, but on Friday afternoon it was actually announced. So from 2026, there will be 22 cars on the track instead of 20. The team has been working hard to set up its structure ahead of their Formula 1 adventure. Stefano Domenicali speaks about this recent addition to the grid.
The FIA and Formula 1 finally announced it on Friday afternoon: Cadillac will join the other 10 constructors from 2026, and so there will then be 11 teams on the grid, the team's entry has now been officially approved.
Domenicali reacts to news of Cadillac entering Formula 1
Domenicali, CEO and president of Formula 1, explains why this is good for the sport. "As we said in November, General Motors' commitment to bring a Cadillac team to Formula 1 was an important and positive sign of the evolution of our sport. I would like to thank GM and TWG Motorsports for their constructive cooperation over many months and I look forward to welcoming the team to the grid from 2026 for what will be another exciting year for Formula 1."
