F1 News

Oscar Piastri just missed out on pole position at the his home Grand Prix. The Australian driver was provisionally in first place, but Lando Norris narrowly managed to defeat him by 0.084 seconds at the Albert Park.
Piastri: 'I didn't want to take any more risks'
"Pretty happy," Piastri reacted to his result after qualifying. "It's obviously great to start the year on the front row. One position further back than I would have liked but it's a great start to the year and great to have the team on the front row."
According to the Australian, he could have gained even more on his second lap, but it did not materialise. "In sector three I lost a little bit of time compared to the lap before, I also locked up there and went off in the first run of Q3 so I didn't really want to do that twice, and maybe left a little bit on the table."
Tomorrow, with possible rain can lead to a chaotic race in Melbourne. "Now a reset and see what tomorrow has in store. Just not quite enough in Q3, but it's the start of a long season so pretty happy with a solid start."
