Jos Verstappen wins another rally: 'It paid off!'

- Estéban den Toom
Where Max Verstappen just could not get past Lando Norris in the final laps of the Australian Grand Prix, father Jos Verstappen did find success this weekend, winning the Rally des Ardennes in Belgium. Together, with co-driver Renaud Jamoul, he was the fastest in the Belgian Ardennes, and over the twelve special stages, Verstappen and his partner were the fastest.
Jos Verstappen looks back on the rally in the Ardennes
"They were beautiful, but also tricky stages. You really had to stay focused. Things have been going really well lately. The car feels good, and we feel comfortable together with the car and the team. The notes are fine and we are well matched. We are confident, and that has paid off here. I am very satisfied," Verstappen told Verstappen.com after the rally .
After 12 special stages, Verstappen and Jamoul's lead over rival Bastien Rouard in the Hyundai i20 Rally2 was just 35 seconds, but in the end, Jos pulled ahead. "Last year we also raced here, but then the course was completely different. Most of the stages this year are run in reverse or have been modified, so my experience from last year is not necessarily an advantage," Verstappen said, referring to the 2024 edition.
