Can Aston Martin attack top four? 'We had more speed'

The four top teams McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari seem to dominate when it comes to the contenders for the constructors' title, but what can Aston Martin do? With Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, the points should come in for Lawrence Stroll's team. The Spaniard commented at the press conference before the Chinese Grand Prix on how the feeling with the car was and whether it offers any prospects for the upcoming races in the king class.

Alonso was asked where Aston Martin stands at the start of the season. "That we had a little bit more pace than the cars in front, probably, but it was very difficult to overtake. It was only one very narrow racing line to be able to overtake. And yeah, the tyre deg was big, but when you follow cars, it's always big. As I said, I think we have to wait and see," the Spaniard said in the press conference ahead of the Shanghai race weekend.
Nevertheless, Aston Martin was still able to pick up quite a few points thanks to Stroll's result. "It was an interesting first race. Pace in qualifying was maybe better than expected – better than what we saw in Bahrain. The race was tricky, it was difficult for everyone, but the outcome was eight points for the team thanks to a very good race from Lance. All in all, it was a good first race for us."
