50,000 people watch Red Bull show run in Vietnam
David Coulthard and Jake Dennis put on a Red Bull show at the site of the new Vietnam Grand Prix in which over 50,000 people attended. Vietnam is set to host its first Grand Prix next season.
Rolling back the years, Red Bull brought out their RB7 Formula 1 cars. The same car which Sebastian Vettel won the 2011 world championship with.
The race is expected to take place in just over one year and construction is well underway in Hanoi. A visual of how the circuit will look from the drivers' view was made into a video last week.
Dennis, a Red Bull testing regular spoke highly of his Vietnam experience.
“It was a pretty cool experience and sharing an F1 show with DC has been an absolute privilege. The fans here have been incredible," Dennis said.
“The donuts at the end were great fun and to stand on top of the car with the fans going crazy was fantastic. I believe there were over 50,000 people here, which is amazing. I definitely won’t forget it.”
Coulthard, a former Red Bull driver, was also pleased to be a part of the occasion in Hanoi. He's convinced he's warmed the fans up for the full event in 12 months time.
“It’s great to have the opportunity to drive the RB7 again and to see the energy of the crowd. It was pretty dusty out there but in fairness to the city they’re building a Grand Prix track on this site as we speak but it just added to the visual aspect," Coulthard said.
