Helmut Marko has said that Mercedes is receiving unfair treatment which is enabling them to remain dominant. The Red Bull advisor has said that when Red Bull went through their dominant period a few years ago the FIA would introduce multiple rule changes to keep the gap between the teams closer. Marko believes that there are not enough rule changes which mean Mercedes can continue to be the fastest.

"When we were not nearly as dominant as them, there were two or three changes in the regulations each year to put us on hold. But nobody seems interested in that at the moment," Marko said to GPFans.

"We take a step forward, but Mercedes seemingly two," he said.

"The basic direction is there, now we have to keep fighting. But we are happy to have made the first step, we have placed in front of Ferrari, everything went well from Max, that was the maximum."

It is clear that the Red Bull man believes that it has been made easier for Mercedes to remain at the front but will gain confidence from their competitiveness with Ferrari.

They will hope that the Monaco Grand Prix will provide the opportunity for their first race win of the season.
