Carey: "It makes sense to add a few more" races to the Formula 1 schedule
The current Formula 1 calendar is at an all-time high with 21 races spread across the season. Chase Carey still shows a serious interest in increasing this number to around 25.
Two in and two out. That's what is expected of the schedule next year. Formula 1 will add in Vietnam and Zandvoort, but Carey has already confirmed the total will stay at 21 for 2020. The British, German, Spanish, Italian and Mexican are all in danger of missing out.
"We have agreements with Vietnam and Zandvoort for the 2020 calendar, which will be finalised in the coming weeks," he told the Austrian broadcaster Servus TV.
"For us, it's about quality over quantity. But we have talked about another race in the US and we would like to return to Africa. There are 21 races now, but if we find the right places, then it makes sense to add a few more."
