Verstappen: "Red Bull Ring is challenging because of so many types of turns"
Last year's Austrian Grand Prix winner Max Verstappen says the Red Bull Ring is challenging because of the variety of turns. 12 months ago, he became the first Red Bull driver to win the teams home race, and these memories make him extra excited ahead of the 2019 event.
“I'm looking forward to the GP of Austria, mainly because I managed to win there last year. With so many Dutch and Austrian fans in the gallery that was incredible. It was also special to win with a Red Bull car on the Red Bull Ring," said Verstappen on his website.
“It's a short lap, but challenging because of the different types of turns there. You have to take a lot into account in terms of the balance of the car and that makes the adjustment not so easy."
The circuit in Spielberg was visited by the 'orange army' last season. The many Dutch fans created a unique atmosphere which pushed Verstappen all the way to victory. The 21-year-old believes this is down to the 'good view' from the stands.
"That [good view] creates more atmosphere because fans can follow the race so closely. We will, of course, do our best, because being in Austria, the team is doing well anyway; the home race provides a lot of positive energy."
