Brown denies Alonso-McLaren split stories!
McLaren CEO Zak Brown has denied rumours that Fernando Alonso has ended his relationship with McLaren, after stories broke on Friday that the two parties have split.
Alonso's time with McLaren has been disappointing to say in the least, with four disappointing F1 seasons followed up by a disastrous Indy 500 attempt, where the Spaniard failed to qualify.
There has been talk of a split for a while now and it seemed that it had been confirmed, but Brown has claimed the rumours as false.
Brown told Jenna Fryer, a reporter for Associated Press: “[The reports are] fake news.
"We definitely still have a strong and contractual relationship with Fernando.
"Nothing whatsoever has changed in the relationship. McLaren and Fernando have a continuing and contractual relationship.
"Fernando remains a McLaren Ambassador [for McLaren]. No decision has been taken by McLaren or Fernando on returning to the Indy 500 at this time."
