Press conference called at Silverstone for 14:00 amid new deal speculation
- Bobby Vincent
A press conference at Silverstone has been called for 14:00 (UK time) today with Formula 1 boss Chase Carey and the bosses of the British Racing Drivers' Club amid rumours of a new deal with the circuit being agreed.
Sunday was set to be the final race at Silverstone, with its current deal expiring at the end of the 2019 season, but after what feels like absolutely ages of negotiations, the two parties may have finally struck a deal.
There are numerous changes going on in the F1 world right now, two include: the return of the Dutch Grand Prix next season and the introduction of the Vietnamese Grand Prix to F1 in 2020 also. The Spanish and Mexican Grands Prix are heavy favourites at the moment to be dropped off the calendar, with the British Grand Prix now looking more likely to return for another season at least.
Silverstone is a historic track - with the first ever Formula 1 race being held at the circuit that is located in Northamptonshire. It has also hosted the third most races of any circuit in the world (behind only Monaco and Monza).
