Zak Brown on Formula 1: "We need to be putting on a better show for the fans"
Formula 1 knows it has some problems and these are trying to be fixed through rule changes which are to be implemented in 2021. Until then Zak Brown believes that it will be more Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton dominance but hopes that in the future fans will not be able to pick a clear winner to win the Grand Prix. However, the McLaren boss praised Mercedes for how dominant they have been in recent years.
"You have to give credit to Mercedes and Lewis for doing an outstanding job," Brown said. However, he believes that Formula 1 needs to change as the sport can become more competitive than it is already.
"I think we all recognize the sport is not where it needs to be," he said. "We need to have a more level playing field and better competition. I think 2021 will be a big step forward. I think we can expect a lot Lewis and Mercedes victories this year, most likely again next year but hopefully, in 2021 with the rule changes, we will start to see the grid more mixed up because certainly, we need to be putting on a better show for the fans.
"When fans show up to a Grand Prix they should think that there might be 7 or 8 drivers that can win the race whereas in reality right now it's just a few."
Many are hoping to see the sport radically change in 2021 and hopefully, this will create more uncertainty as to who will win the races and we can see midfield teams at the top of the podiums at certain races.
