Hamilton hopes the home crowd will push him to a race win despite Qualifying 2nd
Lewis Hamilton qualified in second place at his home Grand Prix after losing out to his teammate Valtteri Bottas who put on an impressive performance during qualifying. The Brit is still confident of a strong race result and has said that his home crowd will push him on to fight for a race victory.
"Congratulations to Valterri," Hamilton said after the session to Sky F1. "He did a solid job throughout qualifying. Ultimately I wasn't good enough. We worked really hard throughout the session but ultimately it just got away from us.
"We sacrificed a lap in Q2 which would have helped get a reading as to how the car was. I made a mistake on the first lap and the second one just wasn't that great so fair play to Valtteri who did the job.
"It's a long race tomorrow. We've got the crowd here so we'll see what we can do."
