Charles Leclerc: "Third place is the best we could have done today"
Charles Leclerc qualified third at the British Grand Prix and has once again outperformed his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari looked on course to really push Mercedes for the front row positions but during Q3 they seemed to struggle. Both Ferrari's start the race on the soft tyre and they will hope to jump Mercedes on the start if they are to get ahead.
"In Q2 we were going well," Leclerc said to Sky F1 after the session. "But in Q3 I think Mercedes turned up their engine as they were very very quick. We need to work on the corners."
"Third place is the best we could have done today so I'm very happy about it."
During the post-session qualifying interview, David Coulthard noticed Leclerc inspecting Mercedes car.
"I was just looking at the state of their tyres! That's it nothing special," Leclerc said.
Ferrari will hope that their strategy pays off and that they can try and get their first win of the season here at Silverstone.
