Hamilton wins a record sixth race at Silverstone - British Grand Prix report
Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix for the sixth time as he made the most of a safety car but the headlines belong to Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen as they had a dramatic collision!
Hamilton took the lead of the race after Antonio Giovinazzi spun on to the gravel forcing the safety car out. Hamilton pitted and came out in front on the hard tyres, a position he would not relinquish. The Brit opened up a comfortable lead and never looked in danger coming home for his seventh win of the season.
Valtteri Bottas was the unfortunate victim of the safety car as he missed out on his first win since Baku with Charles Leclerc completing the podium.
It was a day to forget for Sebastian Vettel as he wiped out Max Verstappen after the Dutchman overtook Vettel. Vettel was handed a ten-second time penalty and the German eventually finished way down the field after pitting for a front wing. Verstappen meanwhile recovered to finish fifth but will be disappointed after a podium looked likely.
But the praise must go to Lewis Hamilton who extended his lead at the top!
Further down the field
Carlos Sainz continued McLaren's good form to finish sixth with Daniel Ricciardo, Kimi Raikkonen, Daniil Kvayt and Nico Hulkenberg completed the top ten.
George Russell got his best finish of the season as he finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel to finish 14th. However, it was another day to forget for Haas as they both retired after coming together with each other on the opening lap.
