BREAKING: Melbourne extends F1 contract!
Formula One has agreed a deal to hold the Australian Grand Prix until at least 2025 after a new contract was agreed, becoming the latest race to commit its long term future.
The race around Albert Park in Melbourne has been an ever-present on the calendar since 1996 and has become the classic first race of the season in recent years. This season’s race was won by Valtteri Bottas, who got past his teammate Lewis Hamilton on the first lap and dominated throughout.
The track has had its fair share of criticism recently, with many people suggesting it doesn’t offer enough overtaking spots, and that it produces boring racing.
The news comes just a week after it was confirmed that the British Grand Prix at Silverstone would be holding the race until at least 2024.
What do you make of the news? Are you happy to see the track at Melbourne stay or do you think F1 should be prioritising deals for different, more exciting circuits?
