Verstappen thinks he "could've gotten pole" if not for mistake in Q3

Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen thinks a first-ever pole position could've been on the cards at the Hockenheimring if not for a mistake he made on his final flying lap, as the Dutchman will start from P2 at the German Grand Prix on Sunday.
Despite six Grand Prix wins in his career, Verstappen has yet to put his car on pole in his five-and-a-half seasons in Formula 1. He has come desperately close at times, and he was close again today. In the end, though, it was Lewis Hamilton who got the quickest time, as the Brit got his 87th career pole.
"I started quite conservative in Q1, and in Q3 was losing a bit of grip," Verstappen told Paul di Resta in his on-grid interview.
"But it's great to see so many Dutch fans here!"
Three out of the last four times Max has started from second place, he went on to win the race. Could the same happen tomorrow?
"Good to be on the front row and we will see what happens tomorrow. We could have got on pole but went wide at turn 8 - but, like I said, it was a good result."
