Christian Horner reacts to Max Verstappen's first ever pole!
Max Verstappen claimed his maiden F1 pole position during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix and his boss, Christian Horner was full of praise for the Red Bull man as well as thanking Honda for their work.
Verstappen beat out both Mercedes with a time of 1:14.572 to claim his first-ever pole position in Formula 1 and increase his chances of a second consecutive win. The Dutchman had earlier won the opening qualifying session but was pipped by Lewis Hamilton in Q2. However, he responded brilliantly to take pole position.
His boss Christian Horner was delighted for his driver and said the Dutchman "was on fire" after his successful qualifying session.
"The margins are so tight round here but Max was on fire this afternoon. In pretty much every section of the qualifying," Horner said.
"That last lap was stunning and he needed to nail the last corner as Valtteri was ahead at Turn 13, but he did. It's fantastic for him to get his first pole.
Horner also had some words of praise for Honda, adding: "It's all credit to Honda, and we couldn't have done it without them."
