Mercedes has to work because of Honda: "And that's good for the sport"
- Tom Mason
Red Bull and Honda have shared a partnership for this season, but Jacques Villeneuve has his doubts.
Villeneuve has doubts about how reliable the power sources are In the current phase.
However, on the other hand Mercedes have been really impressed with by Honda overall.
The car has been performing much better so far this year, largely thanks to Max Verstappen, who has performed strongly.
The Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff has been particularly impressed with the way the team are running.
“They have clearly taken a big step compared to last year and they also need credit for that. For Formula 1, it is good that Honda has become stronger and, in the end, direct competition also benefits. A fourth power source manufacturer that can get to the top is something we can all benefit from, " Wolff told Crash.
Wolf’s Mercedes currently lead the constructors Championship by 150 points to Ferrari, with Brit Lewis Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas the top two of the drivers.
“It shows that we have to reinvent certain things and that is something I see as a challenge. We have an excellent set of results: That should motivate us to work even harder. The rest of the competition is slowly coming alongside. Such a thing is always easier than going for a long time. There is a reason why nobody else won so many titles. We know that we have to go even deeper and smarter to stay on top. ”
The current top four teams on the grid have four different engine manufactures, which makes for interesting reading as we approach the end of the summer break.
