Charles Leclerc says the car "felt amazing" after taking superb pole in Spa!
Charles Leclerc was delighted to take his third pole position in Formula One with a terrific display in qualifying to take top spot in all three sessions and to line up first on the grid for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
Ferrari had been the quickest car all weekend and were the favourites to take pole in Belgium and Leclerc obliged, with his Q3 lap time being seven tenths of a second faster than teammate Vettel's.
Following the session, the Monegasque told former F1 driver Timo Glock: "It felt good. Obviously the first sector was not exactly what I wanted, especially in the first corner, we had to go very slow because there was a lot of traffic.
"I struggled quite a bit but after that the second corner we were strong and it felt amazing.
"I asked in the garage not to bother with the slipstream as it was a bit of a mess, so to prepare the tyres for the lap overall, and it worked out so I’m very happy.
"We were struggling a little bit more for the race pace yesterday so we need to work on that but looking at the pace today, I’m pretty sure we’ll be strong."
