Hamilton and Vettel raise discussions about slow out laps
Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are both unhappy about the out lap situation on track. To get the Pirelli tyres up to temperature, Formula 1 cars need to drive a little bit slower than usual. At Spa-Francorchamps that caused a real traffic jam, while drivers like Max Verstappen had to go through all that traffic because they were busy with their fast laps.
Hamilton described this situation as 'dangerous' at an earlier stage and is concerned about safety. Sebastian Vettel also tells Motorsport-Total.com that he is not happy with how things are going at the moment.
"You fight to have a good slipstream, but at the same time, you fight to get your tires into the optimum window. Years ago the window of the tires was much wider," Vettel said.
Michael Masi is immediately concerned and will not take any additional measures, but does let the FIA take the complaints to ensure that the situation does not get out of hand.
"It is something that will certainly be discussed indoors, but it is still manageable. As soon as it gets worse, we can intervene, but at the moment it is something that we will be in throughout the season keep an eye on and keep watching," Masi said in a statement.
