Vettel three points from a race ban!
Sebastian Vettel has been given three penalty points after his dangerous re-entry onto the track that sent Lance Stroll into a spin.
Vettel lost control at the Ascari chicane and spun onto the infield, but it was the rejoining onto the track that caused the problems, as he entered right in line of Stroll's Racing Point, causing the Canadian to also spin.
The German was given a ten second stop and go penalty for the offense, and has now been handed three penalty points, taking him to nine.
Race bans come into effect when drivers hit 12 points, leaving Vettel potentially just one infringement away from a ban.
The stewards said Vettel: “left the track at turn nine and rejoined the track in an unsafe manner. In doing so [he] collided with car 18 [Stroll]. The stewards considered this to be a dangerous incident.”
The last driver to receive a race ban was Romain Grosjean, who was banned for the 2012 Italian Grand Prix after causing a huge pile up at turn one in the race before at Belgium.
