Andreas Seidl: "Next year is very important for us"
McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl knows the importance of 2020 for his team as they look to build on the improvement they made last season.
McLaren have not visited the podium since the Australian Grand Prix in 2014, but in 2019 they have made some serious progress on recent years.
Their current points tally of 83 is already 21 more than last year's final total, and with driver line up Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris already locked in for next season, the team has a solid base to work on next season.
Spanish newspaper Marca quoted Seidl: “I will not compromise the development of the 2020 car for this year. Next year is very important for us.
“We will bring small things to the next two or three races at least, and from there it is more open. Of course we want to fight for fourth place as much as we can, but we also must not compromise next season.
“There is a plan for what we want this season and another for next season and we will keep to it. These last two races were a step back, but these things happen. It’s part of the sport.”
