Max Verstappen celebrates his 22nd birthday today!
The Monday after a race in which it became clear how much Red Bull Racing is still lacking, is probably not the ideal time for Max Verstappen to party. The fact that he is celebrating his 22nd birthday today may reduce the 'pain'. At least he doesn't have another race in the coming week.
A lot of drivers (nearly all drivers 10+years ago) are still waiting to start their Formula 1 career. For example, Lewis Hamilton was this age when he made his debut for McLaren in 2007. There are just nine active drivers with more experience than the Dutchman. The now 22-year-old will race in his 100th Grand Prix the United States.
This year he turned out to be just too late to set the record for the youngest pole-seater ever and for the only age record that still matters, time is running out. Helmut Marko has made no secret that he wants to make Verstappen the youngest world champion ever. He now has one year left for that.
Regardless of the records, Verstappen is naturally heading towards a golden future. Congratulations, Max!
