Zhou awarded Anthoine Hubert award for best rookie
Guanyu Zhou has been awarded the rookie of the year award in Formula 2. The award will also pay tribute to Anthoine Hubert who was tragically died after a crash at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hubert was involved in a crash with Juan Manuel Correa at the Raidillon corner of Spa. Hubert sadly passed away as a result of his injuries whilst Correa was placed into a medically induced coma and transferred to the UK for specialist care, but he is now making a recovery.
The world of motorsport will now pay tribute to Hubert through the Formula 2 rookie of the year award which will be named after the Frenchman.
"We wanted to do something to honour Hubert and we do that with this prize. It would have been a prize that Hubert could have won himself," Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michael said.
Guanyu Zhou of Virtuosi Racing won the award and he said he wanted to do all he could to honour Hubert.
''It is an enormous honour to receive the Anthoine Hubert prize. It is an important moment for me and I will do my best to honor Hubert for the rest of my career," Zhou said after being given the award.
