Verstappen: The championship is the goal for next year
- Tom Mason
Max Verstappen has admitted that he only has one goal for next year, to win the Formula One world championship for the first time. The Dutchman finished in third in the drivers' championship this season, ahead of both the Ferrari's.
The 22-year-old made his debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2015 and has since gone onto win eight races and collecting 948 points in the standings.
"I personally thought reliability was the most important. It was very high throughout the year and we also made a lot of progress with the engine itself. So it went well," Verstappen was quoted by autobahn.eu
"The basis for next year is there. We have learned a lot throughout the year and I think we will have a positive start to the next season."
"Yes, I hope I can just participate in the final victory. That's the goal."
Verstappen alongside Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is one of the most exciting drivers on the grid currently, and the pair were just separated by just 14 points in the final standings in 2019.
